Alone

It’s late and I revel in the welcome quiet

Finally a minute of peace

Away from all the voices and demands

That both invade and enrich my life

The moon peeks out of the darkened sky

Casting a golden shadow

I briskly walk the sleepy sidewalks of suburbia

Breathing in and out the cold crisp air of January

I relax in the solitude of night and I smile

Grateful for the dark curtain covering me

I think of all the words I plan to use

And of all the things I plan to do

And of all the dreams I have still hidden away

And I walk the sleeping streets of suburbia

Breathing in and out

Breathing in and out
