Sonnet in Grey

Today the world seems bathed in boring grey-

A sepia filter that matches my melancholy mood-

A listless fog I cannot wish away.

A place where joy refuses to intrude.

My feet are stuck in routine so blasé

I cannot find the impetus to move.

I long to break free and just sprint away,

But the grey won’t let me get into a groove.

I hope that soon the sun will shine again:

Illuminate the colors where they hide.

Perhaps, then my loneliness will mend,

And someone will again stand by my side.

At least the Grey will buffer what I feel

The numbness may allow my heart to heal.
