I read books to escape life’s narrow frame

To stimulate my mind, increase my brain

To feels another human’s joy and pain

To encounter new ideas — bold and germane

At times, when I feel four walls closing in

I open pages,and I’m free again,

Across times and dimensions, I will roam —

Right from the solitude of my own home.

Oh, the joys and sorrows I have felt,

And at the feet of Kings I’ve gladly knelt,

Seen the world, done more that most would dare,

All from the comfort of my favorite chair.

For my own Imagination is set free

Immersed in other’s creativity,

And even though the character’s aren’t real

They allowed my own emotions time to heal.
