Burying a Son

Unsplash.com

Heaven’s tears flowing

like rain

A light snuffed out

too soon

An infection that

Mounted an attack

An immune system

Too weak to fight

The infection morphed

Into Sepsis

Too quickly

And Almost overnight

like a piranha

Sepsis swam in

shut down

Vital organs

Shut down

a body failing

Whose weapons

Refused to fire

A father’s shock

And unbearable grief

The loss

Too great

As he buried

His beloved son

His eldest

His heart,

his legacy

Mourners whispering

How unfair

Such a waste

Cut down

in his prime

All his dreams

All his plans

Buried with him

A parent should

Never have to

bury a child

And the rain

Fell down

In sheets

The heavens

Acknowledging

The loss

Too tragic

For words
