California Fires

Santa Ana winds blow down through the hills

Flames erupt and their massive fury builds

A lifetime of memories up in ephemeral smoke

Air so hot and thick

it makes you choke

Desperate for water

But the hydrants are dry

The whole world watches

And ponders why

Those with power did nothing to prepare

Leaving mass devastation spreading everywhere

Such an avoidable tragedy created a dark void

Families and lives completely destroyed
