Circumstances

I cannot control the circumstance,

But I can control my reaction.

I may not always be asked to the dance,

But it will not affect my satisfaction.

I only have this life to enjoy,

And whatever might befall me,

I hang on tight to my inner joy

And set my mind and soul free.

The tribulations always come;

Still, I will hold them at bay.

The light of God and his only Son

Will always show me the way.

Thus, circumstances come and go —

The ups and downs of existence —

But the seeds of joy grow in my heart,

Offering me faith and persistence.
