Drive

Windows rolled down and the stereo’s blasting,

Warm and breezy the weather’s forecasting,

The road up ahead-I can see this drive lasting

Half the night.

Feeling of freedom-behind the wheel I’m in charge,

The road is smooth and the world is large.

I’m bold in my lane and ready to barge

Into the first lane on the right.

My exit’s in sight, and I want to have fun.

The freeway awaits -engine ready to run.

I hit the pedal: speed explodes like a gun.

My future is looking bright.

Driving at night is a time I can think-

More intoxicating than any strong drink.

Hours fly by,and before I can blink,

I’m looking at dawn’s early light.
