The scorching heat in the blue Texas Sky

Makes walking around just unbearable.

I root around for something light to wear

That makes walking outside somewhat tolerable.

The worry I feel walks with me each day

As I ponder the lives of my offspring.

I know that they exercise free will

But I fret about what their future choices will bring.

Still all of us get to pave our own path-

God knows that is what I chose to do.

I know that my worry is wasted time,

So I must have faith in those I’ve given birth to

The circle of life goes on: this is clear.

So I’ll embrace hope and turn away fear.
