Exhaustion

Falling into bed

Falling fast asleep

Frantically searching for energy

To face each coming day

How can we manage to go on

At such a relentless pace

Just to break even and scrape by

Anxious and full of fear

Optimism fades away

Doomed to live in this mouse trap

We exist until we pass away

We dream of flowers and fresh air

The sun radiates down our skin

We dream of a life beyond these four walls

Where living can finally begin
