Is it the thrill of breaking the rules

The dangers of being complicit

That makes our love such a heady thing

Criminals engaged in the illicit

Or is it rather a gradiose attempt

To carve out meaning in a meaningless life

To risk hurting those we vowed never to leave

To risk creating such strife

But for now I say consequences be damned

Let’s revel in the sins of the flesh

Even though eventually there will be hell to pay

Let’s throw away caution

Just risk it

Heady pleasure indeed

Engaging in the illicit
