Lounging around

Frolicking in the sun

His tan shiny coat

The result of

years of breeding

With a hefty price tag

But more priceless

Than the rarest jewel

An English bulldog

Now approaching 14-

78 in human years-

But still quite spry

With a pep in his step

Barking like a royal lord

When he wants attention

My living room his castle

And I his humble

And faithful servant

Ever on retainer

Serving his meals

And offering libation

When he so demands

He has aged gracefully

Looking quite dashing

With grey in his jowls.

He gets around

But his spine

Is not near

as straight

As it once was

Still his heart

As big as the heavens
