Piles of Laundry

Piles of bills

Piles of chores

Left undone still

Piles of books

Waiting to be read

Piles of requests

Kids waiting to be fed

Piles of dreams

Pushed to the side

And the piles will keep growing

As long as I am alive

But today at least

I will walk in the sun

Listen to the birds sing

Have a little fun

The piles will be waiting

But I won’t be there

For I’m communing with nature

Breathing in her rare air
