Requiem for a Dream

1 min readMar 14, 2025

The flowers are in bloom along the sea coast.

The cerulean blue of my eyes

hidden behind dark sunglasses

Mimics the cerulean blue ocean roaring waves

crashing against the shore.

I long to return to the days of my frivolous youth

When opportunity and sweet surprises

hid around every bend,

Where my whole world was a frolic on a sandy beach

begging to be explored.

But my youthful days have passed me by,

And the weight of eternity lies up ahead.

Still, for one magical moment

The maze of memories overtake me.

I am young again laughing

and running into your welcoming arms

And the distant memory gives me a moment in time

A moment where peace — and pleasure —collide.

However, I continue on

The wearisome weight of the wide willful world

Resting on my shoulders

I barely glimpse an explosion of glorious color,

Luring me to abandon my quest,

but the dancing flowers dim in retrospect

I journey on towards the Waning light of approaching sunset.
