Ties Unbound

Say the words, I dare you

Those dreaded words

I have been walking

On eggshells for months

Trying and lying

desperately to avoid

But I’m ready now

My tourniquet prepared

and always nearby

I’m steeled for the knife

Ready for the pain

Sharp discord cuts deep

Enough to sever the ties

supposed to forever bind.

Say the words

But be prepared to deal

With the rippling and

Rumbling aftershocks

Such bloodletting

always brings.
