Time

I thought I had all the time in the world

But our time was running out

I should have cherished the time we had

Of that I have no doubt

But I was so caught up in the routine

Entwined in my daily grind

That I did not show you how much I loved you-

Body, soul and mind

So now all I have is memories

To keep me warm at night

And dreams about what could have been

If I had only seen the light

Time is such an elusive drink

That we gulp instead of savor

If only I could do it all again

I would cherish you forever
