Wildness

There’s a wildness in you

Calls to a wildness in me

Both of us spend lives

Caged in conventionality

Yet long to break free

Your dangerous eyes

Your rebellious smile

Promise delights

that entice and beguile

But the categorical imperative

Of Immanuel Kant

Holds true to this day

Though I know what I want

The divide is too great

Both resigned to our fate

Because it’s too late

At this point in our lives

To break rigid rules

And be seen as fools

Or ideological tools

So tame we’ll be

Yield to the drugery

Ignore our hearts plea

Caged wildness not free
